Using daily affirmations is a practice of positive thinking and self-empowerment.

You don’t have to believe affirmations for them to work.

Your brain responds to repetition and consistency. If you repeatedly say positive things out loud, while looking at yourself, your brain will begin to subconsciously associate you (the thing it sees) with the positive affirmations (the things it hears). Even if you don’t “believe” them yet, eventually you will.

For the same reason you should avoid constant self-deprecating language. Your brain internalizes whatever it hears as the truth. Even if you’re just joking. Especially  if it’s repeated over and over again.
